My Story

My name is Anjelica Yancey, and my journey is one of resilience, faith, and healing.

My brother and I were adopted as infants by an amazing woman named Cheryl Yancey. She couldn’t have children of her own, but she gave us the world. As a single mom, she made sure we had every opportunity, even putting us both through college.

During my freshman year at NC State, my life took a major turn—I became pregnant with my first daughter. That was also when I first experienced domestic violence at the hands of my children’s father. I made the difficult choice to leave college and stay in that abusive relationship, eventually having two more children with him.

For over a decade, I endured physical and emotional pain, suffering injuries that left scars—both visible and unseen. Despite my mother’s heartbreak, I remained in the relationship, believing that love meant enduring. Then, my world shattered.

On her 53rd birthday, my mother was diagnosed with stage four colon cancer. Just 18 days later, she passed away. Losing her left me broken. At the same time, I was still trapped in an abusive cycle. Eventually, my children’s father was incarcerated, leaving me to raise our three daughters alone—without the one person who had always been my rock.

In my search for purpose and healing, I made some difficult choices. But through it all, I found my way back to myself. Inspired by my mother’s legacy as a nurse, I entered the medical field, becoming a certified medical assistant. Yet, while working in doctors’ offices, I saw firsthand how the medical system often overlooked the power of holistic healing. Many patients were given prescriptions instead of being encouraged to rest, breathe, and embrace a healthier lifestyle.

That realization led me back to school, this time to become a licensed massage therapist. It was during this journey that I truly began loving myself—spending time in meditation, reflecting on God’s word, and embracing my own peace and happiness.

Ten years after my mother’s passing, I asked God, What am I supposed to do now with all this love inside me?

A week later, I met my biological family. A few months after that, I opened Love & Peace Massage—a business built from my heart, grounded in faith, and dedicated to giving others the peace and healing I once prayed for myself.

Every session I offer is more than just a massage. It’s a moment of restoration, a space of peace, and a reminder that healing—true healing—starts from within.
